Phnom Penh, February 28, 2025:
Under the “Ending Violence Against Children and Promoting Positive Parenting in Cambodia (EVAC)” project, funded by terre des hommes Deutschland e.V., CWCC, as the lead consortium with COCD and VCAO, facilitated the participation of five children and youth representatives—one from CWCC in Kampong Thom, two from COCD in Pursat, and two from VCAO in Kampong Chhnang—in the National Conference on “Child and Youth Participation,” held at the Cambodiana Hotel in Phnom Penh. The national conference led by CNCC.
The conference aimed to share the experiences and best practices of children and youth actively engaged in prevention, intervention, response, and support services for children affected by violence, while highlighting their role in advocating for their rights and well-being. It also sought to evaluate and gather feedback on the initiative to establish a National Child and Youth Working Group, demonstrating a commitment to strengthening child participation at both national and global levels.
The conference brought together approximately 120 participants, including representatives from government ministries, relevant institutions, development partners, and children and youth from various organizations.
During consultation sessions and group discussions, two children from the EVAC project shared their experiences and best practices from their Child Club activities. They specifically highlighted challenges faced by children in their communities, raising awareness among ministry representatives, relevant institutions, development partners, and their peers.
